On behalf of Kari and myself, I would like thank all of you for coming and celebrating this wonderful day.

I met Lee in the 7th grade, as a student he excelled in many classes… Sorry.. I mean he was expelled from many classes.

In the 20 plus years I have known Lee we have been through a lot together, I was there when he got his first kiss, when he bought his first car and when he moved out of his parents house and we got an apartment together.

Neither Lee or I had a brother, we both were surrounded by three sisters, and so we became brothers.  His parents welcomed me into their house, fed me and from time to time his mother would even swear at me in Spanish as if I was a true family member.

Living on our own together, wow, we learned a lot, like there were foods out there we never had at home, some great tasting things like Hamburger Helper  and frozen pizza, and even more hamburger helper… I think Lee and I ate every variety there was.

We would ride our bikes everywhere, even after owning cars we would ride all over the county and even up and down Mt. Diablo several times.  It was coming down that hill around 30 MPH I learned that you should not ride on the outside of a turn next to Lee, if I had slid just a couple feet more I may not be here today.

Anyone who knows Lee knows he likes to drive, we would get off work after a swing shift and on a whim we would drive up to Reno in the middle of the night, get a cheap late night breakfast, play the slots until we got carded and then drive back home getting a couple hours sleep before going back to work.

For many years Lee and I worked at several jobs together, but after the near bike accident and a few scary car trips on snowy sierra mountain roads I decided for my safety that I did not want to be around as he began driving a 10,000 gallon bulk propane truck… or was it the fact that I began working for Roto-Rooter and he thought that was a shitty job???

So somehow, maybe it’s the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets, we still remain close, and even today, still taking the occasional crazy road trip together.

In our circle of friends there were always “the single guys”, Steve Daniels, Rick, Jeff, Lee and myself.  For a while it looked like maybe we would all end staying that way, but slowly one, by one they began to marry off.  A woman would come into their lives and forever change these die-hard bachelors.  Lee and I held out as long as we could, but his time came and mine is around the corner.

Thanks to my sister Jackie, Lee and Kollette met several years ago and instantly began dating.  I have spent a lot of time with them together and they are as close to perfect for each other as two people can be.  Kollette is a wonderful woman who I know Lee will be loved by yet still allowing Lee to be who is.

Lee, I am proud to have been your friend all of these years and I am honored to be your Best Man here today.

Now I have a bit of advice for both Lee and Kollette that will help them live a lifetime of happiness together.

 Kollette,

Yes, the TV remote is an extension of a man’s hand, and in so, it is not to be taken away or tampered with.  It is, besides the BBQ the only bit of control a man maintains when he marries.  Please do not mess it.

 Lee,

Regardless of what you heard her say, did not hear her say or what you feel like saying to her, if you want a lifetime of happiness just remember these two words.. “Yes Dear”

 And now,

Friends and family, please join Kari and I as we raise our glasses to toast Mr. & Mrs. Wilkinson, … Congratulations, we wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
